Definition:
XPS is an abbreviation for stands for XML
Paper Specification, a file format developed
by Microsoft serving the same purpose as a
PDF (portability of information in a
document).
XPS to PDF
refers to the process of converting a
Microsoft XPS document to a PDF file. In
order for the conversion (XPS to PDF) to
take place, an XPS viewer/reader (such as
Microsoft XPS Viewer or Microsoft XPS Viewer
EP) needs to be installed as well as a PDF
printer driver such as
PDFcamp Printer or
docPrint PDF Driver.
Converting an XPS to a PDF using Microsoft
XPS Viewer:
- Microsoft XPS Viewer integrates into
Internet Explorer once downloaded and
installed from here - http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/xps/viewxps.mspx
- Double-click on the XPS file to open
it into the XPS viewer (that you
installed previously)
- The XPS document will open in an
embedded window in Internet Explorer.
Right click anywhere in the content of
the opened XPS file and select
Print
- From the list of existing printers
select "PDFcamp
Printer" or "docPrint
PDF Driver" and click on
Print. You'll be asked for a
location where to save the PDF file.
Converting an XPS to a PDF using Microsoft
XPS Viewer EP (Essentials Pack):
- Microsoft XPS Viewer EP is a
standalone XPS viewer that comes with
the XPS Essentials Pack which can be
downloaded and installed from here -
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/xps/viewxps.mspx
- Go to Start-Programs
and click on XPS Viewer EP.
Once started, go to File->Open
and select to open the XPS file you want
to convert to PDF.
- Once opened go to
File->Print, select "PDFcamp
Printer" or "docPrint
PDF Driver" from the list of
existing printers and click on Print.
You'll be asked for a location where to
save the PDF file.
