How to extract tables from PDF or image and save to Office with OCR

The application VeryPDF Table Extractor OCR allows users to extract table from normal or scanned PDF document/image (.bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .gif) with OCR technology and then save the extracted table as new documents like CSV, XLS, HTML, PPTX, DOCX, XLSX, RTF and TXT.

In order to meet different requirements of users, the application supplies both Windows version and Mac OS X version for convenience use. The usage and interface of these two versions are the same and this page will focus on showing how to use Windows version to recognize table from PDF/image.

In preview panel on the left of the interface, you can see all thumbnails of the PDF/image pages. Please choose one page and you will see it in middle panel. There supplies Zoom in and Zoom out buttons in the toolbar for you to preview the selected page better. You can also click up or down arrow to change the current page to previous page or next page.

Then please choose a range that you want to extract. For example, you want to extract the whole table in current page. Please click Draw a table button in toolbar and then select the whole table with red rectangle in middle panel. Then you can freely draw vertical lines to perfect the table according to your needs.

If you are not satisfied with the rectangle or vertical lines you have drawn, please click the buttons Remove the table or Remove Selected lines to delete them. Then please click OCR button to start extract table at once. All the recognized characters with table vertical lines will appear in lower list box. Please see it in Figure 1.

When you click any text in the lower box, the corresponding text will be highlighted in original file with a blue frame. If you want to apply the current operations to all pages, please click the button Apply to All.

At last, please click Save button to save the extracted table to CSV/XLS/HTML/PPTX/DOCX/XLSX or other file formats supported by VeryPDF Table Extractor OCR.
