Many mapper documents are directly scanned and save as PDF. It means that the documents are stored as images capsuled in PDF. These scanned image PDF files always have large file size. Those PDF of high resolution images are especially large. VeryPDF Scanned PDF compressor is an effective tool for compressing the file size of scanned PDF.
VeryPDF Scanned PDF compressor uses two methods to reduce the storage size of images in PDF. The first one is downsampling. Reduce the image resolution, reducing the image quality, to make smaller files. The other is compressing the images with effective compression algorithms.
Download the installer and install VeryPDF Scanned PDF compressor. You will see the main interface as shown in Figure 1 after starting the application. In the top part of the interface, the File List lists the selected PDF files for compressing. You can add file to the process queue by the button Add. If you want to remove some items in the process queue, use button Remove or Remove All. Set the Output Folder to save the compressed new PDF files. Click button Option, and you will come to the dialog box displayed in Figure 2.

In Figure 2, you can see that VeryPDF Scanned PDF compressor can downsample images of PDF by three methods, Subsample, Average and Bicubic. Downsample Resolution is for setting the new resolution of downsampled images. Besides downsample, the application supports compression algorithm to compress images and reduce the size.

To scanned PDF, most storage space is consumed by images in the PDF, and if you need to compress textual PDF. You may need to use the option Fonts under Image. Click Apply to use the settings to the selected PDF files. The last step to compress those scanned PDF is to click the button Start in the main interface.
