VeryPDF Advanced PDF Tools Command Line is a command line application that can append and edit PDF descriptions and PDF properties such as title, subject, author, keywords, created time, modified time, creator and producer, etc. It also supports to set PDF OpenAction, page size, permissions, passwords, etc. for the output PDF. Download the package of VeryPDF Advanced PDF Tools Command Line Then, please unzip the package to a folder in your computer disk. In the unzipped folder, you can see an executable file named pdftools.exe which is the called program.
1. Open MS-DOS command prompt window in which you can input commands.
2. In the opened MS-DOS command prompt window, please refer to the following command line template to input your commands.
pdftools [options]
In the above command line template:
pdftools: call the program.
[options]: set options to edit PDF description, PDF properties, etc.
If you need to edit PDF descriptions such as title, author, keywords, etc., you can use the following options: -t [Title], -a [Author], -s [Subject], -k [Keywords], -d [CreatedDate], -m [ModifyDate], -c [Creator] and -p [Producer].
For example,pdftools -i c:\input.pdf -o c:\out.pdf -t title -a author -k "123,456" -d "2003-11-11"
The first example is to set title, author, keywords and create date for the output PDF document.
If you want to edit PDF OpenAction, you can use the following options: -q [OpenAction],
For example,
pdftools -i c:\input.pdf -q "FitBH" or -q "50"
This example is to set OpenAction as "FitBH" or display pages with magnification=50%.
You can also encrypt PDF and set other permissions to output PDF file by using the following options: -S "openpwd=XXX", -S "ownerpwd=XXX", -S "keylen=X", -S "permission=XXX", and -S "securitykey=XXX".
For example,
pdftools -i C:\*.pdf -o D:\*.pdf -S ownerpwd=123 -S openpwd=456 -S keylen=2 -S permission=128
This example is to set PDF owner password as “123”, PDF open password as “456”, key length as 128 bit AES encryption (Acrobat 7 or higher) and allow users to print the PDF document with high resolution.
