VeryPDF Document Converter contains all the functions of Document Printer, so this article will just describe how to use Document Converter.

Click to download Document Converter or Document Printer. Install Document Converter, and then you will find two virtual printers, docPrint and docPrint PDF Driver (These are the main components of Document Printer). The graphical user interface program (doc2pdf_win.exe) and the command line interface program (doc2pdf.exe) of Document Converter are in the installation directory.
Document Converter provides two virtual printers which are named docPrint and docPrint PDF Driver, respectively. The two virtual printers are the full function interfaces of Document Printer. This section shows the usage of the two virtual printers.
• Use virtual printer docPrint PDF Driver
Open a document with proper application which supports printing. Call the printing dialog in the application, and then choose the printer docPrint PDF Driver as illustrated in Figure 1.

Click Print and then you will see a Save As dialog like the one displayed in Figure 2. Choose a target in the Save as type dropdown box, and then click Save. The opened document is now converted (printed) to the chosen format.

Virtual printer docPrint PDF Driver supports these target formats, PDF, PS, EPS, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PCX, and PNG.
• Use virtual printer docPrint
Open a document and call the printing process, and then choose the printer as docPrint. This will open an interactive window before saving the target file. The interactive window is snapshotted in Figure 3.

In the interactive window, you can change the properties and layouts of the document page from function items provided on the menu bar and toolbar before converting it. After setting properties, choose File -> Save As, and come to the dialog shown in Figure 4.

In the dialog, choose a target format in dropdown box Save as type. For image target format, you can set the color depth, resolution, image compression methods, and so on. This virtual printer docPrint supports more than fifty target formats.
The GUI interface is only provided by Document Converter. The executable file doc2pdf_win.exe is in the installation directory. Run the program, and then you will see the interface as displayed in Figure 5.

The file list between the menu bar and button bar is for listing the files in the process queue. Here are introductions to the menus and buttons of the GUI.
• File menu
Add URL. Add online documents to convert.
Add Files. Add documents to convert.
Add Directory. Add files in a directory to convert.
Settings. Open setting dialog box.
Monitor a Special Directory. Enable or disable unattended conversion. New files in the specified directory will be converted automatically.
Exit. Quit the application.

The Settings dialog is snapshotted in Figure 5. The tab Base Setting is for setting the target conversion format. Save Image Mode is to set image properties for image target formats. Save PDF Mode is for the options of PDF output. PDF Info is to set PDF descriptions, such as Title, Subject, Author and Keywords. PDF Security is for setting PDF encryption options.

• Edit menu
View Documents. View the selected files in the file list.
Delete Selected Items. Remove selected items in the file list.
Delete All Items. Remove all items in the file list.
Move Up and Move Down. Sort the items in the file list.
• Button Add File is to add files to the file list.
• Button Setting is to open the Settings dialog.
• Button Start is to start the conversion.
• Buttons Move Up and Move Down are for sorting the items in the file list.
The command line interface is also available in Document Converter. The executable file doc2pdf.exe can be found in the installation directory. Open a command prompt window in Windows, and then you can run the program.
The basic usage of the command line program is
doc2pdf [options] <-i input> [-o output]
The field of options is for specifying options, and arguments -i input and -o output are for specifying input and output files.
The full description of supported options and arguments can be acquired by command doc2pdf without any argument and options like
doc2pdf
Then the command prompt window will print the whole manual of the program as displayed in Figure 7.
