Situation 1

Figure 2 shows the Option dialog. You just need to input a user password in the text box of User Password. As to the Security Level, you can select High - 128-bit for safe. Then click Apply to save the option setting. In the main interface, click Encrypt, and save the PDF with the user password. The newly saved PDF will not be opened by anybody who does not know the user password. The PDF is locked.

Situation 2

In the Option dialog, set an owner password in the text box of Owner Password. And you can determine other readers of your PDF can modify or copying your PDF. Uncheck Allow Modifying Content, and then click Apply to exit to the main interface. In the main interface click Encrypt as mentioned in Situation 1. Now the saved PDF in this situation will not be modified by any person who does not know the owner password. The PDF is locked, too.
